An email list sounds like the best oioptn to me, but yeah, I was also thinking about how it might work to keep it to a small group without appearing exclusive or elitist. I don’t know. A small group makes more sense to me anyway, as we’d get more time to focus on individuals’ work and get to know one another and our various styles without becoming too overwhelmed. But that’s a pretty cloudy area, figuring out who would be involved and whatnot. I know that on a few LJ writing communities in the past, the ones that focused on critique would require you to offer, say, three critiques before posting your own work, and then you’d have to keep that up pretty steadily to remain welcome in the community. I feel like it would be pretty easy to put a tick beside someone’s name on a piece of paper for each critique offered, or perhaps mark it down on a spreadsheet or something. It’s not overthinking, there really are a lot of things that would be best sorted out before diving in, and problems would certainly arise down the road, but it’s good to be thinking about it and working out whatever we can beforehand. It would be a bit of a neat experiment, really. Anyway, I’d definitely be up for discussing it more via snail mail, so feel free to get at me with any further thoughts.
